![]() ![]() Fiona’s parents and the fairytale creatures that come to the rescue at the end are more memorable than anyone besides maybe Dragon and Thelonius from Shrek 1. ![]() ![]() Shrek 2 has the best supporting characters for me. Considering this isn’t Shrek 1 & 2 against Puss 2, I’d say Last Wish takes it via sheer quantity compared to either one of the Shrek films. And that’s not even mentioning Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. Lord Farquad and Fairy Godmother are awesome, but I think Jack Horner and Death both contend just fine with either one and likely beat both out. Villains have always been a highlight of the series, and The Last Wish has the major benefit of having a couple. The 3 guys are a riot all the way through and bounce so well off one another. as for the best trio, I think Shrek 2 takes it. I think I honestly prefer Puss and Kitty. Fiona’s always been a character I’ve kinda overlooked in the grand scheme of things. Eddie Murphy is phenomenal in both, but I think his interactions with Shrek in the first one just barely win out for me. But I think Donkey still holds the title of best “annoying animal sidekick.” Though which film he’s better in comes down to the wire. Perrito is incredibly lovable for sure, and was a lot funnier than I expected him to be. Plus I’ll never get tired of his catchphrase, as little sense as it makes lol. That suave swashbuckler rogue archetype is so much fun, and he gets incredibly cool development in Last Wish. this comes down to preference, but I’ve always considered Puss my favorite character in the franchise. Even though I love the wrestling scene and the dragon escape from Shrek 1, the only real contender in my opinion is the “I Need a Hero” sequence. This isn’t knocking the Shrek films, but they were never really action-heavy. The opening scene alone nearly curbstomped both Shrek films combined when it comes to fight choreography. It has the most unique and unexpected premise of the three in meeting Fiona’s parents. ![]()
